Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Postinor 2 Pill?
Please write your question hereplease I had sex with my boyfriend on the 12th of this month he released inside me but I happened to take postinor 2 like four hours later. I saw my last period on the 21th of last month and i haven t seen it for dis month could I be pregnant?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive pill (morning after pill). It needs to be taken within 72 hours of having unprotected intercourse to prevent accidental or unwanted pregnancy. What you have done is proper and you need to wait for the breakthrough bleeding to happen. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake. Hence, if you do not get periods by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention promptly, as it would require further evaluation. The failure rate by using such pills is about 5 to 10%. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
