Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking A Contraceptive Pill?

Hi I am 18 and me a my boyfriend had protected sex on sept. 19th. The condom didn t break in anyway. But my period is now 10 days late. I started taking some prescription pills from my doctor and I think that could have something do to with. & I took a pregnancy test it was negative. I m just very anxious and nervous about the whole sisuation. Please help thanks

Hi,

If you took the pregnancy test recently (last couple of days) and it was negative then very likely you are not pregnant. It may be in this case that your periods are delayed due to start of the oral contraception.

On the other hand I would like to just mention that no contraceptive method is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy so risk of pregnancy even though low is present with all contraceptive methods (condoms and oral pills as well).
