Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Contraceptive?

Hi. I got intimate with my bf on June 24. There was no penetration. Just some external rubs. To avoid pregnancy, I took ipill. It s not the first time I have taken the contraception. However, I noticed vaginal bleeding of little amount on July 5 morning. On the same day, we again got intimate, but no major penetration. He penetrated just once and not after that. I am experiencing bleeding since three days now. It s not heavy. Very little. Are there chances of pregnancy? Why is the bleeding happening? Please suggest.

Hi,

Although this is not very likely, it is, however, possible that pregnancy occurs so you had one risky intercourse and if this happened during your ovulation period it is possible that pregnancy occurs, but considering your description of it, this risk is minor.

To be sure you should do pregnancy tests which can be done when the period is missed or 8 days after the targeted intercourse so at this point it would be accurate enough to detect possible pregnancy.

Standard urine test would be enough for it since this is almost 99% accurate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
