Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pill After Intercourse?

Hello. Today me and my boyfriend had sex. However, the condom broke. We immediatley got our money together, and went to the store and bought Take Action emergency contraceptive. I took it (about 45 minutes after the accident) and then my normal dose of birth control. Will I be protected against pregnancy?

Hi. thanks for your question.

Yes, you are protected form pregnancy. Emergency contraceptives are effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse, however, the earlier it is taken, the higher the chances of protection. You took it quite early enough to afford you maximum protection.

I hope I have answered your question.

Best wishes.
