Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
NuvaRing contains etonogestrel and ethinyl estradio, which is a small, flexible birth control vaginal ring used to prevent
pregnancy.
However, it is directed to use another birth control method, such as condoms and spermicidal agents, until the ring has been in place for 7 days in a row.
In your case, since you had
unprotected intercourse a week later after inserting the ring, it should be alright.
What symptoms you are experiencing like spotting, breast tenderness, headache and mood swings are known side effects caused due to presence of ring itself. These symptoms should gradually subside.
In case the symptoms become bothersome, you may need to change the
contraceptive on consultation with Gynecologist, which would be suitable for you.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
