Is Pregnancy Possible While On Althea Birth Control Pills?

Me and my girlfriend are really active in having sex. My girlfriend, uses Althea as a form of birth control. After the seven day pill free, she immediately started the fifth pack. On the third day / third pill of the pack, we had sex. Are we still safe?

Hi,

Be reassured though that when a woman takes any contraceptive pill as prescribed the risk for pregnancy is almost nil. The pills block the normal reproductive procedures and may still be effective even if she misses a pill although this is definitely not recommended! The only time that's risky for pregnancy is when a woman starts taking the pills. Since your friend has already completed a full cycle and still takes them as prescribed, there should be no concerns.
