Is Pregnancy Possible While On Implanon?

I would like to know what the realistic chances of getting pregnant while on the bar? I got told 2 weeks ago that it s good I don t get my period while I have the implanon bar, as that s how it works etc. I have recently got into a serious relationship and with that, we ve been intimate. since, we started being intimate I have had my period, and spotting since it stop. I would just like to know if that 1. Normal, and 2, what are the chances of it not working or getting pregnant

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A contraceptive implant is an implantable medical device used for the purpose of birth control. Failure rate of less than 1% while on such implants. Although it stats it's action from day 1 after insertion, it is advisable to use other forms of contraceptives like condoms and spermicidal agents during the first 2 weeks after the insertion of implants.

Hope I have answered your query.
