Is Pregnancy Possible While On An IUD?

I had unprotected sex on September 29th. I’m on a hormonal IUD, so my periods are always super light or not present at all. I’m also on spironlactone, which is a diuretic. I took a pregnancy test on October 22 and it came back negative, and I want to trust it, but I wanted to get another opinion. Is it possible that the test was false? Or can I trust it?

Hello,
i can understand your concern. IUD failure rate is around 0.8% which means it is very protective against pregnancy. None the less a small percentage of women can get pregnant.
Since your urine pregnancy test is negative, there is very little reason to worry about pregnancy. To be doubly sure you can get a blood test for hcg or repeat the urine test after a week if you donot get period till then.
Spironolactone has no interaction with the hormones so it is not an issue.

Hope this helps.
