Is Pregnancy Possible While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I am wondering how accurate pregnancy tests are. I was supposed to have my period start last Sunday, but only had a few days of spotting. I took a test later in the week (Thursday and Friday) and the results were negative. I am on birth control but am wondering if I could still be pregnant since my period was skipped/messed up.
