Is Pregnancy Possible While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi I m Ronald Owen. I found an article on your site regarding pregnancy pills and it s helpful. I have an issue and I ll be glad to hear from you. I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend 4 days after menstruation, 29 July 2017 the 20 hours later, she started taking oral pills, the 28 pills. And, she s still taking the pills and will complete on 26th this month. She traveled back home on Aug 7 and she s not been with me since 7th but I advised her to keep taking the pills until she s done. She has not been on pills before. My question is, will she get pregnant? And, will she experience monthly period? Thanks in advance for your time and response. YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are two reasons which confirms that there are very less or nil chances of pregnancy:
- The intercourse was during the safe period of menstrual cycle.
- She is currently consuming OC pills regularly.

Therefore, she will get her menstruation on time without issues.
