Is Pregnancy Suggested While On Noresthisterone Pills?

I had an abortion in july 2010 and then bled till around december, I am wanting to get pregnant, but have been prescribed noresthisterone to stop the bleeding, ive been on it for about 6weeks ... Can i get pregnant?! I've been trying but nothing as yet..

Hi,
It's good you had the doubt before planning for pregnancy. Pregnancy is not possible while on norethistron, & consumption of the drug in pregnancy can cause birth abnormality in fetus.
- Norethesteron is a hormonal preparation you were given to control menstrual problem after abortion.But I am afraid you are given a bit prolonged course of the drug. And you need to withdraw the Norethesterone for that.Do it under your doctor's care.
- usually after withdrawal of the medicine,is followed by bleeding & comming period gets normal. -For pregnancy, a normal menstrual cycle with ovulation is essential for conception.
- you can plan a pregnancy after 3 normal periods( guided by a gynecologist).
