Is Presence Of Albumin In Urine A Cause For Worry During Pregnancy?
Dear Doctor,
i am 16 weeks pregnant and i was found to have trace albumin in the urine. my 1-hour glucose load test showed a value of 144 mg/dL. i am on medications for hypertension and gestational diabetes. this is my second pregnancy and the previous one had HELLP syndrome and had to terminate the pregnancy.
I have read your query. There is no need to worry. Traces of albumin in urine at this stage of pregnancy is normal. I would suggest a urine test as soon as possible to rule our any mild infection if such a case were to approach me in my clinic.
If the albuminuria is present in the later stages of pregnancy, it has to be taken seriously. You may also take frequent check-ups to monitor the blood pressure and glucose. I would advice you to strictly follow the diet recommended by your doctor.
Hope your query is answered.
Wish you and your baby good health.
