My stool is always seem normal according to Dr. OZ, which he said on one of his shows that you should always notice if your stool is of normal color, and mine is I think I should do another test or get another opinion. Hello,

The presence of blood in stool and it’s color is related to mucosal injury to any part of the gastrointestinal tract or infectious cause due to some microorganism or parasite The reason for mucosal injury can be ulcers, hemorrhoids, anal fissure or trauma which are seen in different diseases. Sometimes the presence of blood in stool is the only thing that is experienced by patients or other symptoms like pain abdomen are also present.

I would suggest you see a gastroenterologist with all related history and after doing physical examination if required he will advise you to get some diagnostic tests done which might include another stool examination, colonoscopy, other imaging tests and blood tests. Once the test results come, your doctor will be able to guide you further on management after knowing the underlying cause behind it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
