Is Proceeding With More Chemotherapy Sessions Safe To Treat Rectal Cancer?
my mother is having Rectal Cancer and her CEA level was 4 at the beginning of her disease after 4 chemotherapy treatments now her CEA level is 6.5. Is this shows that the treatment is not effecting to her. The Oncologist had suggested to have 8 chemotherapy in total.

Regarding your mother surge in CEA level despite taken 4 chemotherapy for rectal cancer I will suggest yes it is safe let her try 8 chemotherapy and add more of hematinics drugs to her medications
If no improvement schedule an appointment with another oncologist specialist for further clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription
