Is Prolonged Back Pain A Symptom Of Heart Problem?

Is prolonged back pain ( in the muscles) ever a symptom of a pending heart attack? Also, I am scheduled to have an aortic valve replacement in a month. I am healthy enough to have open heart (age 73) but I am wondering since I could have that if I would be foolish to try to have the procedure done through the vein since it is not as well researched and may not last as many years?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Back pain generally is not related to a heart attack so there is no need to worry about this. As for the method of the heart valve replacement, it is the surgeon that will decide the best method according to your needs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
