Is Purplish Red Mark On Knee After Being Scratched By Monkey A Cause For Concern?

I have been scratched in the right knee yesterday by a stray monkey . I was wearing a trouser and an inner as well . It left a teeth bite approx. 1 left upper jaw teeth bite . I got vaccinated for tetanus and anti - rabies on left and right shoulder .The wound is still purplish red .There is no itching and no pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is normal for the area to still be red in appearance. It may also be slightly swollen as well.
These changes are part of the inflammatory response due to the trauma. It should improve gradually, if there is no improvement, only worsening then it is possible the area is infected.

In that case, antibiotics would be needed.

The tetanus and rabies vaccination would protect against these two conditions. You would need to complete the rabies vaccine course for complete protection.

I hope this helps
