Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your fathe has esophageal cancer. Treatment depends on stage of cancer. In early stage surgery can be done. In advanced stage surgery is not possible. So radiation is the treatment of choice. His throat pain is due to radiation treatment. Don't worry about that. It is very common to have pain after radiation. So consult your doctor and Continue your treatment.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
