I have constant ear infections. Got my first set of eustacian tubes, with my adenoids removed at 6 months. I ve had 3 sets of tubes and my tonsils removed by the age of 16. My twice a year infections include pain, lots of drainage (starts dark brown and very smelly, then turns lime greenish with no scent), and my hearing comes and goes. Doctors suggest reconstructive surgery but I fear I will lose all hearing in the ear, though if it fixes the problem for good, I would try it. It s only one ear that gives me problems, so I assume the good ear still has the opening from the tube. My question is, is this something I will most likely have to deal with the rest of my life? Or will surgery fix it? I know there is no guarantee, but if any Dr. has experience with cases like this I would love to hear from you.(I don t go swimming, or take baths and am real careful not to let much water get in my ear in the shower. I ve taken antibiotics but it doesn t fully fix it.)
