Is Recurring Folliculitis On Buttocks A Matter Of Concern?
Hello, I ve just cleared up a case of folliculitis on my buttocks, they all seemed to be fading but today one new spot appeared. Its a little red and raised but no pain or itching. I ve treated it with my antibiotic ointment should I be concerned that a new one has appeared?
Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
As you are had folliculitis on your buttocks and they all faded away with a antibiotic cream but today one more follicle has appeared which is a little red and raised area but no pain or itching.
As you are applying the antibiotic cream you can apply the same cream over the raised area for few more days. This will reduce the infection and the swelling. If you are getting these lesion frequently you have to test your blood to know any infection is present in the body.
Thank you.
