Is Reddening, Tenderness And Bump Normal After Bruising On Buttocks?

My 10 year old took a line drive to his shine playing baseball 2 weeks ago. It bruised but there was no swelling. However, now the bruise has gone but the area has turned red, tender to the touch, and has a significant bump visible. Should we go to the doctor or is this part of the healing process.

Hi it could be a hematoma or collection of blood. If that is the case, it will go on its own. But it could also be an abscess. I would prefer you show your doctor--regards
