Is Redness Around The Site Of Cauterization Normal?

I had some skin spots removed (damaged from sun) last Friday via cauterization in doctor office. All is fine except the one on my arm. It is quite red extending out about 1 from the actual surgical spot. I had been using neosporin and stopped today when an Rn suggested I may be allergic. Is this redness normal? Can I use anything on the spot? There is no warmth to the red skin except area immediately around (2/5 of inch) sore.

It is very possible that the cauterized spot on your arm is red due to an inflammation. You can continue applying neosporin ointment twice a day. However if is persistent, it may be good to consult the doctor to know if any antibiotics are to be taken also.
