Is Redness In The Groin Area A Symptom Of Scabies?

I have redness in my groin bilaterally. I have had it for a month with redness, irritation and some small red bumps. I also recently developed a rash on my left hip. No itching, but much irritation that I can no longer wear underpants. It is getting quite painful and has given me some sharp pains in that area. I am a retired nurse and have inspected the area as well as i can, but don t really see much besides redness that is increasing, along with the other symptoms. My husband and I are in the late 70 s and are sexually active, but only with each other. He has no symptoms. Is this scabies?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be scabies/ tinea/ eczema. I suggest you get it evaluated by your concerned doctor as the treatment would go accordingly. In the interim start using mild hypoallergic moisturising body soaps.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
