Is Regular Intake Of Thyroid Medications Important?
Hi I take thyroid pills ,Liothyronnie and levethyoroxine ,I wasn t able to buy my meds so I have been without them for about a month ,how important is it for me to be taking them.im also a diabetic patient with high blood pressure,I still feel good while I was taking my thyroid pills I didn t feel no different ,I didn t Hv energy and I was still always sleepy .hv I done any damage to myself.
It is important to have the thyroid medications daily and monitor the TSH regularly to see if they are having the right effect of not. Patients may think they feel well and still have dangerously low levels of thyroid function. The thyroid gland is important for the function of almost all cells in the body so it is important to make sure you have enough thyroid hormone in your body. I do not think you have caused damage so far, but you need to start treatment soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
