Is Removal Of Blood Clots After Abortion Normal?

My diabetic d-in-law had a termination at 20 wks 6 days ago, due to massive health probs with the baby. She has been to A & E with blood clots in the cervix and uterus...had two removed and is now having scan to see if anything else present. Is this normal and should she be resting as she has been almost full pelt since she came home last week?
