Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a friend who has had her uterous & 1 of her ovaries removed. When her normal period is due, she has intense excruciating pain. She had avoided going to the ER once & ended up with sepcis. She claims that because 1 ovary remains, they would not remove it for reasons dealing with menopause. Is this true to the best of your knowledge? She is currently avoiding the ER again & can barely move or walk.
Bilateral oophorectomy may be related to menopause but since your friend has only one ovary removed, she will continue to menstruate. Since she is having pain abdomen she is suggested to visit ER or a gynae, get clinically examined & assessed to avoid any complications.
In the meantime, she can take Spasmoproxyvon, one sos when needed & PPI's to get rid of any acid reflux. Do not neglect, get treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
