Is Rest Advised For A Week To Recover From Stiffened Back And Trapped Nerves?

i fell down a staircase on friday went to see a doctor yest and he said to be off work for a minimum of a week as i have a stiffened back and trapped nerves in my right leg put me on 30mg codine with 500mg paracetamol im feeling a little stronger today but still a bit sore i work in a nursery school if they put a risk assesment in place is it ok to go back to work? or should i stay off for a while?
