Is Severe Itching On The Body Normal After Recovering From Shingles?
just got over shingles to my face, was on antiviral and never really had much pain. rash only lasted a week. my skin is almost completely healed just some slight redness and dryer/rougher skin over the area of the breakout. Im now experiencing itchy arms and legs and neck. To the point where Ive made myself bleed. Is this a common post reaction? I ve never had this problem before the shingles.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I reviewed history you gave related with itching after healing of shingles (herpes zoster). But as far as I know there is no reports of itching occurring after healing of herpes zoster at unaffected areas. Itching may occur in affected areas after healing of herpes lesions. So, the itching in unaffected areas may be due to any other reason.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Ilyas Patel
