First of all don't panic. The child is only having seasonal allergy-so common in spring.
The Z-PAK doesn't have anything to do with the legs 'pain. It is just one of the symptoms of the Flu like illness. Just tell him to stay indoors and avoid exposure to grass and other flowers' pollen-the allergy is mostly to these two.Z-PAK is the treatment of choice for Lower respiratory infections but there should be addition of an anti allergic. At 13 years I think a non sedative Loratadine 10 mg will be good in 24 hours. But since it's a prescription drug you have to contact your GP to write you one.
Godspeed.
