Is Severe Pain In Left Foot With Swelling And Discoloration Suggestive Of Stress Fracture?

I have been walking a great deal and standing a lot at a new job.... when I got home today I noticed quite severe pain on the inside of my left foot.... when I took my shoe off I noticed a swelling about the size of a half dollar on the left side of foot basically in the same spot as the arch is on the bottom of my foot... it is also black and blue.... could this be a stress fracture?

Hello,

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that swelling with pain be due to stress fracture but discoloration is more likely indicating cellulitis. It’s recommended for you to consult a physician personally for proper physical and diagnostic evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
