Is Severe Pain In Left Hip Post A Fall A Cause For Concern?

have fairly severe pain in my left hip .my only clue as to the cause is that i tripped and fell the previous dayabout 3 weeks ago . the pain developed gradually over the following days . i would like to know if the injury is likely to be to thehip joint or to the muscle

This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

See, it can be both. A muscle injury or bone injury both can be causes of hip pain. I would suggest you an X-ray pelvis to be get done to find out the probable cause. If the pain is dull, a muscle injury is likely whereas severe pain on specific movements is more likely to be a bone or joint injury. Also do the following-
Tab aceclofenac-thiocolchicoside twice daily for 7days.
Tab pantoprazole 40 twice daily before food for 7days.
Avoid much movements.
Apply hot compression over the affected area.

Get back to me with the reports.
