Is Severe Pain In The Vagina During Menstruation Normal?

Hi my name is tricia I m 17. I started my menstrual cycle yesterday and have been in excruciating pain ever since. I just took a tampon out and it was followed by a rush of blood and clots. Then when I put the new one it I felt as if someone had stabbede from vagina to diaphragm is this normal after 1 successful pregnancy, regular sexual activity??????????
