Is Severe Stomach Ache A Symptom Of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia?

I have severe stomach pain which was diagnosed as gastritis. Have been taking medicine for that, but it has been getting worse. The medicine has not helped and my pain is getting worse. Could this be a symptom of CLL? I have CLL, and my cell count is not very high. Anyway, the belly ache has gotten worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In CLL there are swollen lymph nodes present but those are not painful, the pain is likely due to enlargement of the spleen which happens during the course of illness or it might be related to some other organ like liver that got enlarged. I would suggest you see your doctor and mention the pain abdomen issue which is getting worse even after taking medicines.

To find out exact cause behind the pain abdomen, your doctor might suggest some diagnostic tests like CAT scan if needed. There might be a need of dose adjustment of some medicines which your doctor will decide depending on all the blood parameters that you are supposed to do at regular intervals.

Do not panic. As your doctor is aware of your history and current situation, he will guide you best on the management of any health-related issue. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact for further queries in future.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
