Is Shortness Of Breath Upon Walking Normal For A Heart Patient?

Advanced heart disease with diabetes. Bypass surgery in 2005. Several branch arteries plugged according to catherization. Present Dr is reluctant to pursue further. Seems to think it is fine even though shortness of breath with moderate walking is present. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Congestive cardiac failure patients have difficulty breathing upon different levels of activities. Depending upon it there are grades I to IV. You are in grade II congestive cardiac failure. You have to start propranolol, aspirin, atorvastatin and enalapril or losartan. For that consult cardiologist as the medicines are only procured by prescription only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
