Is Sleeping Advisable After Suffering A Concussion?

my grandson has been attacked by two other teens and he was hit in the head repeatedly. I am concerned he has an concussion, He will not go to a Dr., how do I help him? All he wants to do is sleep, is that appropriate?. How do I care for this situation?

Hi,

Sorry to hear of the sad news. After head trauma, if there is persistent vomiting, or there is confusion, or irrelevant talk, or unconsciousness, or there is a weakness of any part of the body.

In such cases an urgent visit to hospital and imaging of the brain is necessary.

Only feeling sleepy is not necessarily alarming if he is otherwise OK and understands things then you can wait and see.

Hopefully, he would be fine in sometimes. In case of any of any of the mentioned symptoms you should take him to hospital.
