Is Slight Ankle Pain With Swelling Due To A Sprain Or Fracture?

I fell on my ankle, slipped on ice. Sprained upper ankle, heard pop, kept it on ice at night. After two weeks I can walk slow, with 80% full motion in foot and ankle. I can put full weight on it. Does not hurt at rest. I have it wrapped in a light bandage. No swelling except a little in upper ankle after walking all day. aches a little, but very little pain. Does this sound like a sprain or break? (Trying to avoid cost of x-ray) Thanks!
