Hi my husband has recently been diagnosed with hemachromotoaia and has recently stopped drinking any alcohol. We are aware that smoking marijuana in moderation is not a great habit to have however we are wondering if that has a negative impact on this disease. Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The smoking Marijuana has definite detrimental effects in a patient with hemochromatosis as
- worsening effect of marijuana over the already compromised liver cells
- central nervous system effects over neuronal pathways
- disturbances with bronchi and alveoli functioning
- over all compromise with body immune response

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
