Is Smoking Marijuana Harmful After A Heart Surgery?

I am going to have heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm and replace my aortic valve with a mechanical valve. I enjoy a little marijuana since it relieves my abdominal pain and makes me relax. will this be a problem after my heart surgery? I know that I will need time to heal and get better after surgery

Hi,

Since you are undergoing a major surgery, in my opinion, you should do nothing to jeopardize the results. Please be honest with your surgeon and discuss the issue with him. If he advises against using marijuana, you should follow his instructions.

Best wishes.
