Is Sore Throat And Sore Tongue A Result Of Severe Cold?

I think I have a sore throat/sore tongue combo. Is that normal for colds? I've woken up with a bit of a sore throat for a couple days, but this morning it feels more like the back left side of my tongue than my throat. It hurts to drink. Is this just part of cold symptoms? Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain sore tongue is commonly seen when you have a sore throat and soreness at the back of the tongue can be due to inflammation of the Circumvallate papillae that are present in the back of the tongue and contains taste buds and due to close proximity with the throat they gets inflamed due to infection..
The sore tongue is known as Apthous Stomatitis and it is also due to inflammation secondary to infection..
You can take a course of antibiotics like Levofloxacin and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen
Take a multivitamin tablet daily.
Gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..
Do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Avoid spicy,hard, chilled foods..
Drink plenty of water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
