Is Spinal Fusion Surgery A Safe And Effective Procedure?

my husband met with a spine surgeon today who said he would need a fusion. one disc in my husband s lumbar spine is messed up, for a lack of better words. the doctor was short and in a hurry, which left us to do unreliable internet research. we have read that a fusion can cause extra stress on the neighboring discs/vertebrae, and result in the need for an additional fusion, years later. we ve also read that others experienced limited mobility after full recovery. the doctor also failed to mention where he d get the bone graft.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Spinal fusion surgery is a complicated surgery and results are not hundred percent guaranteed.

You can consult an experienced spine surgeon and plan for the surgery.

It is better not to delay the procedure as early intervention gives best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
