I an 47 years old, I had my periods in August. In september, I did not get my pperiods. So I went to the doctor who prescribed meprate tablets for 5 days. She had done a scan to confirm if I was pregnant and she said I was not. I got my periods around the 11th October. It lasted for 3 days. After that it was spotting everyday with the intensity coming down. Then again last week i visited my doctor, she did a scan once again. She said nothing to wrory and that it is normal, and that it will stop. It almost stopped when yesterday I had a bad cold and cough, was sneezing very badly. The again it has started to spot. Is thsi natural. Is thsi perimenopause?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is true that perimenopause is characterized by all sorts of abnormal menstrual pattern. However, spotting on exertion is suggestive of an abnormal endometrial shedding, polyps of the cervix/uterus etc. A local exam is needed to clarify. Please inform your consultant and plan further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
