Is Stomach Pain A Side Effect Of Taking Advent Forte Syrup?

Hi, I have given Advent Forte syrup 6ml dose morning and evening to my son aged 5.7Yrs and weighting around 23KG . Till yesterday evening 3 dosage has been given. After 2nd dose he is complaining about stomach pain. Had I given overdose or it is just normal to get the stomach pain. The medicine is prescribed by doctor and is given for ear and throat infection with fever shoots up to 105 degree F. This is first time he is taking any antibiotics. Thanks, mani

Hello,

Advent forte is an antibiotic (a combination of Amoxycillin & clavulanic acid). It is commonly given to treat bacterial infections.

Side effects of this medicine can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, sleeplessness, swelling of face, lids, etc.

Since your son's fever is high & he is having abdominal pain, do not stay at home. Visit ER, get your son examined. He may need immediate medical help or intravenous support.
