Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I got married a week and a half ago. Prior to that I was a virgin. We had a lot of sex the first week however we were unable to be together the last couple days and therefore have not had sex. I started having strong smelling urine and a slight burning sensation immediately following urination. It was really strong yesterday morning (along with the urge to constantly pee) and then it went away. Today, I don t feel any urge to pee, burning sensation etc. but I did have a decent amount of vaginal bleeding. I was previously assuming that this was a UTI but have not found any sites listing vaginal bleeding as a symptom. I am on birth control and am not expecting my period for another 4 days or so. Does this sound like a Urinary Tract Infection? Should I try drinking a lot of cranberry juice or should I go in? Or do you think it is something else entirely? Thank you
It can be a UTI. A urine culture examination is required. Antibiotics can be started according to the culture reports. Most cases respond well to antibiotics.
Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. You can also take cranberry juice which will act as a good urinary antiseptic.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
