Is Sudden Syncope Related To Thyroid Or Adrenal Functions?

Can sudden near syncope with no prior warning be related to either the thyroid or adrenals? I have dysautonomia (but was not dehydrated today when it happened) and Elhler-Danlos (hypermobility type). 15 years looking for a solution. Two dx above in the past year.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Causes of syncope are several. It could be due to cardiovascular problem, or neuronal in origin. Adrenal issues could lead to syncope as they are involved in regulating sympathetic responses and blood pressure to a certain degree. Please refer to an endocrinologist if you suspect hormonal problems. For syncope workup a cardiologist and neurologist consultation might be needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal, General & Family Physician
