Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 64 years old. I ve had high blood pressure for 15 years and I had SVT until January 2015 when I had an ablation. I m taking 50mg Losartan and 180 mg diltiazem. My cardiologist told to stop the diltiazem (since it may be giving me side affects) and monitor my blood pressure. Is it ok to just stop the diltiazem?
Diltiazem is not a medication that your body builds up a tolerance to, so it is safe to just stop it. Your blood pressure may increase some after stopping it, so it will be good to monitor your blood pressure like you cardiologist said. Hopefully, now that you've had an ablation you won't have any problems with SVT either.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
