Is Surgery Advisable For Eagle Syndrome?

Having trouble finding a doctor to treat elongated styloid process. No one wants to touch it. Just diagnosed after 10 years of unexplainable pain and being sent to doctors emergency rooms. And now with the diagnosis I can t find anyone in SC that would even be willing to do the surgery not that I would want to be the first I ca no longer accept living this way with two children 23months old and 5 months old. Please direct me to what specialist can and will handle such a procedure.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The Eagle syndrome treatment requires shortening of Styloid process causing nerve compression and jaw discomfort of varying degree. The procedure is best carried out with Endoscope, through which tiny instruments are passed down the neck and enlarged portion of styloid process is removed to cure it. The oro maxillary surgeon with ENT specialist team is best personnel to handle Eagle syndrome.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
