Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My FNAC test suggests Reactive Lymphadenitis for swollen cervical lymph node. I have a swollen painless cervical lymph node and my doctor had put me on 1 week course of antibiotics. After one week when the swelling didn t go, he suggested FNAC and Neck ultrasound. The FNAC revealed Reactive Lymphadenitis (reports attached), the doctor has again given me some 1 week course medicine and asked me to see him after 22 days, he has suggested if swelling doesn t go, then surgery can be done to remove the swollen lymph node. I don t know what to do, is surgery at all necessary or it can be avoided?
Hi thanks for contacting HCM... Noted you have reactive lymphedenitis...
Just now complete antibiotic.. Reactive lymph node can be by chronic bacterial infection or fungal infection or metastasis reactive node... Sometime it could be by tuberculosis...
Let me know you reactive lymphedenitis is non specific ...it indicate some hyperplastoc response is present....
If by antibiotic it is not resolving then yes biopsy might taken...for diagnosis...
Your derail history and through investigation useful.... If needed CT scan is non invasive investigation that can be useful.
