Mother 65 older fx her R prox humerus several weeks ago. She was tx in Eeastern Wa. The Ortho Dr who was covering the ED was from Texas. My mother stated to me the DR never tried to do a colsed/open reduction. They put her in a sling. My mother F/u with her Orthopdic Dr. he took an addition x-ray. no inprovment. My mother said the AP view looked good but the Lat view clearly still looked displaced. We are on week 7 or 8. f/u this friday. My question is. Can they still do surgery if no bony union has accured to the fx?
well... the doctor did good thing... doing surgery in that age is difficult... there may be anaesthetic complications n surgical complications... there may be mall Union but non union is very very rare in the case of fracture in long bones of upper limb... if there is non union surgery can be done at any stage.. have a trust on ur doctor try to add vitamin D3 to get daily basis
