Is Surgery Essential For Chiari Malformation?

hi im a 15 year old girl and ive just been diagnosed with chiari malformation. im at 6.5mm. and i havent had alot of answers. my most wanted question is if ill need surgery. and if all the symptoms will go away. please help me. i dont like being left in the dark when something is going on with me but i dont get answers. thank you.
