Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last year I started getting serious headaches, extreme pressure in my forehead and around my eyes. I felt dizziness through most of the day and was very light sensitive. My ent had me take a CT scan and they found a cysts in my maxillary sunius. They did the surgery and for 2 months I felt great. Then I started feeling the symptoms again. After taking several types of antibiotics and prednisone. It only helped a little. But only if it had been sometime in between. It has gotten to the point that I can t deal with it so I have been sent for another CT scan. This time I was told my sunius look clear but Haller cells have been found and need to be surgically removed. For a year now I have felt like hell, and I can not take 1 more month of this. The doctor said the surgery is really the only fix because the lack of success from previous medications I have tried. If I do decide to have the surgery, am I setting myself up for failure to think this will fix the problem?
As per my clinical experience, Haller cells are air cells located beneath the ethmoidal bulle above maxillary sinus region. Most of the times, the Haller cells are asymptomatic, however, controversy exists regarding its potential to cause sinusitis.
The infection of Haller cells are dangerous and there are all high chances of spread to orbit or other vital structures through the maxillary sinus. A surgery with expert is the only option to take decision to cure it the best way with new hopes of cure.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
