Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello sir, am 24yrs old, unmaried, my ultrasound scan report says large welldefined anechoic cyst measuring 15*10cm, for this immediate surgery is needed or can be treated with medicine, Doctor has given some medicine n suggested to consult after one month but am afraid of it plz suggest me sir
Anechoic cysts are benign fluid filled cysts that happen very commonly in females. They are usually treated with birth control pills. The doctor may have prescribed you birth control pills only. He asked you for one month follow up so that he can check on the size of the cyst again. If it will decrease, you can continue with the same medication.
However, the size of the cyst is quite large. So I would ask you to be prepared as you might have to go for surgery if it does not decrease in size.
Having an anechoic cyst is not considered as an emergency. However, if you develop sudden pain or bleeding, you should contact your doctor.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
